This is Phil. He is Calvin's bear. We were going to Castlewood Canyon State Park and Phil insisted on going with us. We agreed because we told Tyler we would take some pictures of Phil. Here he is all ready to go and even buckled up his seat belt.
When we got there Phil made sure we put on our sunscreen. He knows what it's like to have "bear" skin exposed to the sun. If only he would have remembered the insect repellent. We got eaten alive!!!
Here is the start of one of the trails. He climbed up on top of the post so we could take his picture.
We found lots of pretty flowers.
They had so many colors!
I liked the lady bug. I almost got carried away by all the mosquitos that attacked me while trying to get this picture.
Phil wanted to pick this flower but I had to remind him that we were at a state park and it would probably be against park rules.
We climbed some rocks.
Phil got pretty high up. Calvin had to climb up and get him because he was too scared to climb down by himself.
He went on safari through some of the weeds.
At one point he was just showing off and got way ahead of us.
When we caught up to him he was just chillin with his walking stick. You would think he would have the decency to at least pull up his pants!
We found a little stream and he wanted to go swimming so he got his beach towel and headed down the path.
Testing the water. It was pretty cold.
Not sure if he wants to get in or not.
Finally he took the plunge.
Drying off on the warm rocks.
We had to rest climbing back up the hill.
Luckily there was a drinking fountain at the parking lot. On our trip we learned two very important things. The importance of having lots of water...
...and having a bathroom close by.
He got a little carried away with the Charmin.
