Bear Lake - July 30, 2008

Last week we went to Bear Lake for my family reunion. Clint and Katie came up and spend a few days with us. This is waiting for our tour to go into Minnetonka Cave.
This is one of the formations in the cave. It is called the castle. It looks like Cinderella's castle to me. It's hard to decide which pictures to post. There are so many cool formations and we got a lot of pictures. This one is in the treasure room. It looks like a pile of coins. This is the train engine. They found this further in the cave where it's too small to get to on the tour. They brought it out to one of the rooms where everyone could enjoy it.
Morgan loved sitting like a big girl in this chair. She was so good. She had a hard time the first night, but was so happy during the day.
This is Calvin and I at the entrance to the Ice Cave in Paris Canyon. it's not a very big cave, but there is snow and ice in it all year long. It is open at the top.

This butterfly landed on Calvin's hand. I thought it was so pretty.

There were some people rapelling into the cave. This guy was crazy in my opinion. I can't believe I actually got this video. I thought it was hillarious.

We went up to Paris Springs. I got several nice pictures of people drinking the water. I thought this was a nice one of Lynn, my brother-in-law. Everyone that drank, stuck their faces in like this. Yes, even I did. It was cold and delicious. It was bubbling right out of the ground.

Katie and Clint got to ride a 4-wheeler across from Paris Canyon to Bloomington Canyon. We hiked to Deep Lake after that. If you look close at Katie's face, you can see how dusty the 4-wheeler ride was. This is Lindsey and Ashley, my nieces, swimming in the lake. It was pretty cold. There is still snow runoff going into it. Yikes!!This is Clint trying to get the courage to jump off the rope swing. He finally did it and loved it. The water in Deep Lake is so clear, it's amazing. This water is about thigh deep and you could see the fish very clearly.
On Friday we went to the lake and hung out on the beach. The boys flew the remote control airplane that Tyler gave Calvin for Father's Day. It didn't take long for them to crash it and break the propeller. Clint didn't even get a chance to try and fly it. Calvin put a new propeller on it, but wanted to wait until Tyler got there so he could try to fly it. I have video of the crashes, but I don't want to embarrass the boys by posting them.
Morgan loved the water. I think she was trying to see how much of her fist she could put in her mouth. She liked to splash in the water and then suck the water off her fist.
Calvin and Clint had fun flying the kite. The string broke after a while and Tyler was the hero of the day when he ran across the beach and across the road to catch it. He ran through a sticker patch in his socks to get it. Calvin and Clint went in the truck through the sand to pick him up.Tyler and his friend, Crystal, came up on Friday evening. They wanted to see the ice cave and Paris spring, so we went up there Saturday. Tyler climbed out of the cave. This was at the spring. It is so pretty there.
